Dear Students

I have posted some videos and work on the Math page. The first line of the ist sum will tell you why I did not post yesterday.

Keep practising the sums and bring them to class. You need not do all the sums at one time and show

So do as much as you can do comfortably in one day and try to finish all try to finish all the sums by next Wednesday

I shall also be putting up the template for conecpts today on the LEADERSHIP BLOG. So keep a watch out !

Bye for now

Aniruddha Sir

A. Had a marathon sleep yesterday. Slept at 7 p.m and got up at 5.44 a.m on Saturday. So there was no blog post on math yesterday. Anyway....

1. How many hours did I sleep in all?
2. what will be the time which is exactly in the middle of how long I slept? Draw it on a clock face (analog clock)
3. Can you write the time I slept and I woke up in railway time?
4. If I was travelling by train or by air I would have reached from where to where in the time I slept?
5. Write how long you have slept in railway time?

B. Watch this video. If it does not run for any reason here is the link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=9Ek61w1LxSc#at=88 Copy and paste it on you tube to see the video on solving simple algebraic equations.
1. So solve this

1and nine upon eleven      (b)  913      (c)  21   (

 12
5.  Solve for x:            1 x   −  3  =   2 +  44
                                  4                    5
6. Solve for x:          2x - 6 = (- 3x) + 9
7.Jane and her friends were selling cookies. They sold 4 more boxes the second week than they did the first. On the third week, they doubled the sale of their second week. Altogether, they sold a total of 352 boxes. How many boxes did they sell in the third week?

Watch this video below to understand how to solve equations with same variables on both sides

C. INTEGERS

Watch this video to understand how to HOW TO ADD AND SUBTRACT integers
SOLVE THESE SUMS NOW:1. The sum of 2 consecutive integers is 189. What is the first number in this sequence?
2. . Katherine is very interested in cryogenics (the science of very low temperatures). With the help of her science teacher she is doing an experiment on the affect of low temperatures on bacteria. She cools one sample of bacteria to a temperature of -51°C and another to -76°C. What was the temperature difference in the two experiments?
A) 25
B) -25
C) 127
D) -127

3.  A submarine dove 836 ft. It rose at a rate of 22 ft per minute. What was the depth of the submarine after 12 minutes?
A) -472 ft
B) 572 ft
C) 472 ft
D) 452 ft
4. The sum of three numbers is 12. The first is five times the second and the sum of the first and third is 9. Find the numbers.
5. If x + 2 represents an odd integer, then the next larger even integer in terms of x is (1)    x + 4                (2)   x + 3                     (3)   x +1                         (4) x
6. Explain why x and x +1 cannot represent two consecutive odd integers.
7. The low temperature on Monday is –9 degrees. If he low temperature on Tuesday is 5 degrees below this value, what is the low temperature on Tuesday?
8. For each of the following problems, write as a mathematical expression, compute the answer, and write the solution in a complete sentence.
 a)
The temperature was 9° below zero at 9:00 and dropped 7° the next hour. What was the temperature at 10:00?
b)
In a game of Captain-May-I, you had taken 7 steps forward, 9 steps backward, 4 steps backward, 2 steps forward, and 3 steps backward. Where are you now?
c)
Make up at least four integer addition word problems, one for each of the four types of problems.
